Obecná doporučení

  • jíst pomalu a pečlivě rozkousávat, nerozžvýkaná potravina se nestráví a vytvoří hmotu, která může způsobit neprůchodnost střeva,
  • žvýkat se zavřenými ústy, aby nedošlo k polykání vzduchu, nemluvit při jídle, nedoporučuje se kouření,
  • jíst střídmě a pravidelně, aby se vytvořil rytmus pravidelného vylučování,
  • jíst v klidu, nejíst, při rozrušení nebo rozčílení,
  • může se vyskytnout nesnášenlivost nebo alergie na některé potraviny (např. mléko, vejce),
  • doporučená technologická úprava potravin – vaření, dušení, smažená jídla jen ojediněle, vždy do měkka upravená,
  • individuální snášenlivost poživatin je rozdílná; každou novou potravinu je třeba vyzkoušet nejprve v malém množství,
  • dušená, vařená zelenina a kompotované ovoce je ochuzeno o vitamíny,
  • u ileostomií je potřeba podávat potravu osolenou a hojně pít (až dva litry) mezi jednotlivými jídly. Vhodné jsou ovocné a zeleninové šťávy, minerální vody až jeden litr denně. Nepít nápoje hodně vychlazené, ledové, s obsahem kysličníku uhličitého, které mohou vyvolat bolesti, pálení žáhy, říhání, nadýmání. Vhodná je Magnesia, Dobrá voda, Rudolfka, Aqua plus, nenasycené minerálky.
